Since the COVID-19 pandemic, Tramlines has banned re-entry to the festival, much to the detriment of local businesses that don’t get to share as much in the glory of the influx of music fans in Hillsborough that weekend. However, there could be one positive from this, people are seeing more and more different bands each year at Tramlines. Here is Hybrid 3 Studio’s guide to Tramlines 2024!

DYLAN JOHN THOMAS - FRIDAY - T’OTHER STAGE

Proud to call Gerry Cinnamon his mentor, Dylan John Thomas’ indie folk back catalogue speaks for itself. His singles “Nobody Else” and “Problems” in 2019 led to his run opening for Liam Gallagher. His second record EP2 charted in Scotland and was embraced by the indie scene in England alike. If you are attending Tramlines to see Scottish superstar Paolo Nutini, you will love this superstar of the future!

CORELLA - FRIDAY - THE LEADMILL STAGE

Festival favourites Corella are coming to the Leadmill Stage this year. Likened to previous Tramlines favourites such as The Reytons and The Courteeners, Corella have a fresh sound that is perfect for the summer. Fresh from their sold-out homecoming gig at Manchester’s O2 Ritz, you would not want to miss catching these rising stars at Hillsborough Park.

THE MAGIC GANG - SUNDAY - THE LEADMILL STAGE

After announcing their split earlier this year, this may be the last festival season you can catch The Magic Gang live before they go their separate ways. No need to fear, the boys are all still good mates, and will be putting on one hell of a show! The indie quartet have been a regular on festival line-ups over the last years and will be sorely missed in the future, so do not miss one of your last chances to see the boys!

SOFT PLAY (FORMERLY ‘THE SLAVES’) - FRIDAY - T’OTHER STAGE

After their name change, the band received criticism and praise alike, but one thing remains the same, this rock duo still bring the same energy they always have. With their hilarious commentary and punk sound, Soft Play’s two latest singles from their upcoming album ‘Heavy Jelly’, ‘Punk’s Dead’ and ‘Act Violently’ are the beginnings of a new, but still just as heavy, era.

OTIS MENSAH - SATURDAY - T’OTHER STAGE

British alternative hip-hop and spoken word artist Otis Mensah is coming to Tramlines this year. His combination of powerful messages, playful imagery and great beats is one to look out for at Tramlines this year. Mensah was the first person to be named Sheffield’s poet laureate and is a must-see for anyone interested in poetry or hip-hop alike. Mensah creates transformative pieces that unravel in front of your very eyes, challenging masculinity and discussing mental health, this is something he has described as his way of helping to ‘break down barriers’ to ‘reduce elitism in poetry’.

THE FRINGE - ALL WEEKEND

It’s also important to note that you don’t need a ticket to enjoy Tramlines this year, as the Fringe returns. Taking place in much-loved venues across Sheffield such as The Forum, Sidney and Matilda, Shakespeare’s and Devonshire Green. The Fringe is perfect for those wanting to enjoy what feels like an old-school Tramlines experience, back to the glory days of the free festival on Devonshire Green.
