It’s been quite a year, with pandemic-related restrictions making it hard for people to get together and be creative. It was particularly tough for all the young carers who were scheduled to come down to Hybrid to take part in our StoryBombs radio play production workshops.

Being stuck inside and cut off from friends and family is hard for any child. But for young carers it can be even harder, as they’re often looking after sick and vulnerable relatives who may be at high risk and need to isolate. The pandemic has been especially hard for them, as the little respite they have has been taken away from them.

Thanks to support from Children In Need we have repackaged our StoryBombs workshops so we can recreate the live experience online via Zoom. During lockdown, we ran the first of these sessions with young carers across the region, bringing together to storytelling, music making and sound effects in the comfort of their own home!

While we’ve been unable to do our in-house workshops, these sessions have been a lovely way to allow our young people to express themselves creatively, meet with other young carers in a safe online environment, and escape the isolation of lockdown.

Tune into the first of their stories below! An underwater odyssey…
